<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011 - \1 'Z.-<t) <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE <br />AND INST ALLA TION OF A LIGHTNING PREDICTION AND <br />WARNING SYSTEM FOR HERIT AGE PARK FROM THOR GUARD, <br />INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTEEN THOUSAND <br />NINE HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($17,925.00), AS A SOLE <br />SOURCE VENDOR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO <br />ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase and install a Lightning <br />Prediction and Warning System in Heritage Park for the safety and welfare of its residents and <br />visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Thor Guard, Inc. was identified by the Administration as a "sole source" <br />vendor to provide the Lightning Prediction and Warning System, and approved by the City <br />Commission via Resolution No. 2010-1548 on April 15, 2010, to install the system in Pelican <br />Community Park, Senator Gwen Margolis Park, Town Center Park, and Samson Oceanfront <br />Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City now wishes to purchase a Lightning Prediction System for Heritage <br />Park from Thor Guard, Inc., in an amount not to exceed Seventeen Thousand Nine Hundred <br />Twenty-Five Dollars ($17,925.00), as per the Vendor Agreement attached as Exhibit "A", <br />waiving the competitive bidding process as sole source pursuant to City Code Section 62-13(F). <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Purchase and Installation. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />purchase and installation by Thor Guard, Inc. of the desired Lightning Prediction and Warning <br />System for Heritage Park, in an amount not to exceed Seventeen Thousand Nine Hundred <br />Twenty-Five Dollars ($17,925.00) attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
