<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -J.J...lL <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE <br />PURCHASE OF SERVER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTW ARE <br />FROM DELL FOR THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br />DEPARTMENT, UNDER STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACTS <br />#250-000-09-1 AND #250-WSCA-10-ACS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT <br />TO EXCEED SEVENTY -SIX THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED <br />DOLLARS ($76,300.00), A TT ACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT <br />"A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Information Technology (IT) infrastructure is the backbone of the <br />City's core operations and as staff is assessing our current IT system, immediate concerns were <br />identified and required addressing such as firewalls, email gateways, storage solution and an <br />incident asset and change management system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's existing storage solution was aging, out of warranty, and its <br />redundancy fails to operate as designed, and after several hardware failures directly impacting <br />staffs ability to access to critical data, it was deemed that a replacement solution was required; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the solution recommended will support the functions of the current <br />technology and provide additional functionality in allowing the City to replicate its data offsite; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, IT has identified a need for the virtual appliance to track incidents, assets, <br />and changes in the environment to be able to identify trends, prevent problems, and reduce <br />operating costs long-term, as well as give IT the ability to provide remote assistance, and has <br />identified several pieces of firewall hardware that can enhance the City's security system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff wishes to purchase server equipment and software from Dell to <br />maintain the integrity of the City-wide IT infrastructure; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for <br />said computer servers, and other related hardware and software; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Dell has provided a quote under the State of Florida Contracts #250-000- <br />09-1 and 250-WSCA-IO-ACS for the purchase of the server equipment and other related <br />software, in a total amount not to exceed Seventy-Six Thousand Three Hundred Dollars <br />($76,300.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase said server equipment and <br />other related software from Dell. <br /> <br />R20 11- Dell Computer Purchase For IT Infrastructure <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
