An Ordinance ofthe City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Creating a <br />New Chapter Entitled "Fire Prevention and Protection Regulations"; Providing for <br />Purpose and Intent; Providing for Definitions; Providing for Applicability; Adopting Local <br />Amendments to the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the South Florida Fire Prevention <br />Code; Providing for Penalties; Providing for Appeal; Directing Transmittal to the Florida <br />Building Commission, State Fire Marshal, and Miami-Dade County Fire Marshal; Providing <br />for Severability; Providing for a Repealer; Providing for Inclusion in the Code; Providing for <br />an Effective Date. <br /> <br />(First Reading 11/16/06) <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title and Assistant City Manager Vera reported. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler asked if this means that every building that has been approved so far by <br />the Fire Department will now have to upgrade, and Assistant City Manager Vera said not <br />necessarily, it all depends on how much that they don't meet this. He said it is the older type <br />buildings that would have to provide fire safety issues, so they still have to go through the <br />Fire Department, it is all up to the Fire Department whether they want something or not. He <br />said we can put in the regulations, but the Fire Department makes the final decision. He said <br />the Fire Department rules as far as for accesses and any other safety issues.
