<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012- 1~1.(9 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND UP TO SIXTY-ONE THOUSAND THREE <br />HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE DOLLARS AND FORTY-FIVE <br />CENTS ($61,353.45) FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE <br />(DOJ) FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE <br />UNDERCOVER VEHICLE, LASER SPEED DETECTORS, <br />TACTICAL POLICE RADIOS AND MISCELLANEOUS <br />INVESTIGATIVE EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE <br />DEP ARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification by the Chief of Police that the request complies <br />with the provisions of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to Sixty- <br />One Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-Three Dollars and Forty-Five Cents ($61,353.45) in federally <br />forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br />the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to $61,353.45 from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the purchase of one Police vehicle and other <br />requested equipment. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
