Cohen, City Manager DATE: March 1S\ 2012 RE: Increase in the Cost of the Consulting Contract with Calvin Giordano and Associates (CGAI RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the resolution approving an increase in the cost of the Consulting Contract with CGA. REASONS The City is currently looking for a new Director of Public Works. In the meantime, the City's various approved capital projects still require attention. In order for the City Manager to ensure that this work moves forward, it is necessary to contract with a consultant to perform capital project management services. The City has worked with CGA in the past, specifically in this area. CGA has a staff person who is familiar with City operations and projects and can be effective in moving the City's capital projects forward. The CGA contract is in the amount of $8,100 and is for one month of services. Because the City Commission has already approved contracts with CGA in excess of $10,000, it is required that the Commission approve this contract. Should the City require additional assistance in this area, the Commission will be asked to approve another contract increase at a later date. Agenda Item ~r Date 3>W \1-
