Concept Two

Fluid + Interior

I
--'
I

The Fluid + Interior concept
proposes a fluid, whimsical, and
organic approach. The energy
and activity of the park is focused
on interior spaces. Movement
in the park curves through open
lawn, large and intimate plazas,
and landforms created for visual
interest and play. A land bridge
over Poinciana Drive offers a
unique circulation experience
and strong visual and physical
connection between the north
and south ends of the park.

This concept proposes to relocate
the gate house and give open
space back to the park. The park
peels up and over the entrance
drive with adjacent at grade
pedestrian crossings. This unique
topographical feature also serves
as an amphitheater for outdoor
performances on the lawn and in
the plazas.

Water overlooks are located on
both ends of the park. These
"roll-decks" subtly wave, or roll,
providing a playful undulating
experience at the waterfront that
mimics the natural processes
surrounding the site.

The play area at the south end
of the park is carved out of the
multi-use lawn. The elliptical play
space is enclosed by the peeled
up topography, creating a series
of steps that are integrated into
the play experience. This space
provides a play experience that
continues the whimsical forms
created throughout the park.
The play space will also contain
a small pavilion and architecture
elements designed to balance
the fluid forms expressed across
the park.

104

City of Sunny Isles Beach I Design & Permitting Services of the Intracoastal Parks RFQ No" 12-04-04

A:-coM
