Hines, City Clerk Pursuant to Section 171 -3 of the Code of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, the City's Historic Preservation Board is authorized to recommend to the City Commission properties for designation as historic landmarks and historic landmark districts. On today's agenda for your consideration is the re- designation of the Sunny Isles Beach Pier as an historic site for the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Statement of Significance On January 21, 1982, the Miami -Dace County Historic Preservation Board designated the Sunny Isles Beach Pier as an historic site for Miami -Dade County. The Sunny Isles Beach Pier was originally constructed in 1936 by the Miami Fishing Pier Inc. The 1936 Pier was 887 feet long with a T- shaped head. In 1940 and 1945, additions were made to the Pier. A hurricane washed away the outer 400 feet of the Pier in 1947. In 1953, the end of the Pier was rebuilt and steel supports were added. Boundaries/Legal Description The Sunny Isles Beach Pier begins 76ft. N of NE Corner of Lot 36, Bella Vista PB 8 -128 the E ALG N/L of S lOB 149.23 ft. to POB N ELY 433.13 ft. E 328.63 ft. to East harbor line S 433.32 ft. to N/L of S10B produces the W 351.08 ft. to POB.
