City Commission Meeting <br />August 5, 1997 <br />The mayor and commission briefly discussed the process of a search for a city manager <br />initiated by Dade County Commissioner Gwen Margolis. Commissioner Morrow made a <br />motion that commission members shall be responsible for reviewing applications for the <br />position of city manager as received by the mayor. The motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Kaufrnan and adopted by a unanimous voice vote. The vote was as <br />follows: Commissioners Iglesias, Kaufman, Morrow, Vice Mayor Toretsky, and Mayor <br />Samson voting Yes. <br />Commissioner Morrow made a motion authorizing the mayor to represent the city before <br />the Dade County Commission and request that 1997 -1998 stormwater utility fees <br />(approximately $600,000.00) be paid to the city (through a letter of intent) and that said <br />proceeds be used to complete drainage improvement projects at Golden Shores. The <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Kaufman and adopted by a unanimous voice <br />vote. The vote was as follows: Commissioners Iglesias, Kaufman, Morrow, Vice Mayor <br />Toretsky, and Mayor Samson voting Yes. <br />Commissioner Iglesias made a motion authorizing the city to become a member of the <br />Dade County League of Cities. The motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Toretsky and <br />adopted by a unanimous voice vote. The vote was as follows: Commissioners Iglesias, <br />Kaufrnan, Morrow, Vice Mayor Toretsky, and Mayor Samson voting Yes. <br />The commission briefly discussed the solicitation of applications for the position of <br />police chief. <br />XIII.
