RESOLUTION NO. 2017- 746( <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF <br /> POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME <br /> CONTROL ACT OF 1984, AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION <br /> 932.7055, F.S., TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE FUNDS FROM <br /> THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br /> NEW COVERT AUDIO/VIDEO RECORDING SYSTEM, A <br /> PROFESSIONAL GRADE DIGITAL SINGLE LENS REFLEX CAMERA, <br /> AND A NEW EMERGENCY TRAFFIC SUPPORT TRAILERS AND <br /> ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES AND MARKINGS, IN AN <br /> AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTY-NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS <br /> ($59,000.00); PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br /> and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established <br /> Department of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases <br /> intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and <br /> Florida Statutes §932.7055(4)(a)and(4)(b)upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing <br /> body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written <br /> certification that the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the purchase of a new covert <br /> audio/video recording system, a professional grade digital single lens reflex camera, and a new <br /> emergency traffic support trailer and associated equipment, supplies and markings, in an amount <br /> not to exceed Fifty-Nine Thousand Dollars ($59,000.00) in forfeiture (DOJ) funds in compliance <br /> with the aforementioned legal requirements. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached <br /> certification, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed Fifty- <br /> Nine Thousand Dollars ($59,000.00) from the established Department of Justice (DOJ) federal <br /> forfeitures account for the purchase a New Covert Audio/Video Recording System, a Professional <br /> Grade Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera, and a New Emergency Traffic Support Trailer and <br /> Associated Equipment, Supplies and Markings. <br /> Section 2.
