Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> DATE: 2/16/2017 <br /> RE: Approval to Expend Partial Forfeiture Funds (DOJ) in an <br /> amount not to exceed $59,000.00 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission approve the expenditure <br /> of partial Federal (DOJ) Forfeiture Funds, previously awarded to the <br /> Police Department as the results of investigative participation in <br /> forfeiture and seizure cases. These funds are permissible by law to be <br /> spent for the purchases of police equipment and other law enforcement <br /> activities. It is requested that we be permitted to utilize up to <br /> $59,000.00 of said funds on deposit for such purpose. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The partial expenditure of the Forfeiture Funds (DOJ) is for the <br /> purchase of a new covert video / audio recording system for the <br /> investigative services division, a professional grade digital single lenses <br /> reflex camera and a new Emergency Traffic Support Trailer and <br /> associated equipment, supplies and markings in an amount not to <br /> exceed $59,000.00. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> One of the benefits of participating in and providing personnel into high <br /> intensity narcotics investigations is the sharing of confiscated proceeds <br /> for the enhancement of law enforcement.
