Hines, CMC, City Clerk DATE: 7/19/2012 RE: Resolution Calling A General Election to be Held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, and a Run -Off Election, if Necessary, on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, and Designating a Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commissio n provides for conducting a General Election o necessary, a Run -Off Election on Tuesday, Emanuel Pine to serve on the Canvassing Board. REASONS: adopt the attached Resolution which n Tuesday, November 6, 2012, and if December 4, 2012. It also designates This Resolution provides the required details regarding the conduct of the upcoming General Election on November 6, 2012, and if necessary, a Run -Off Election on December 4, 2012, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of City Commissioner, Seat 01 (northern residential area), and of City Commissioner, Seat 3 (southern residential area). The Miami -Dade County Supervisor of Elections and her staff of officials are serving as the Canvassing Board for the November 6, 2012 General Election. However, if a Run - Off Election is needed on December 4, 2012, the City Commission must designate a registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City's Canvassing Board. Emanuel Pine has served on the City's Canvassing Board for several years, and he is willing and able to serve again.
