RESOLUTION NO. 2012- qt�3 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND UP TO FORTY -EIGHT THOUSAND ONE <br />HUNDRED FORTY -SEVEN DOLLARS ($48,147.00) FROM <br />THE PARTIAL FEDERAL (DOJ) FORFEITURE FUNDS FOR <br />TACTICAL POLICE EQUIPMENT, MARINE PATROL <br />EQUIPMENT, UNMARKED POLICE VEHICLE AND <br />SECURITY GATE ACCESS SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification by the Chief of Police that the request complies <br />with the provisions of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to Forty- <br />Eight Thousand One Hundred Forty -Seven Dollars ($48,147.00) in federally forfeited funds in <br />compliance with the aforementioned. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br />the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to Forty-Eight Thousand One Hundred Forty- <br />Seven Dollars ($48,147.00) from the established Department of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures <br />account for the purchase of one Police vehicle and other requested equipment. <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
