SECTION 03700 <br /> MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIR TO EXISTING CONCRETE <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required to cut, repair, <br /> demolish, excavate or otherwise modify parts of existing structures or <br /> appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein as necessary to <br /> complete the work under this Contract. <br /> 1.02 RELATED WORK <br /> A. Concrete and non-shrink grout is included in Section 03300. <br /> B. Work under this Section shall include connecting new concrete to existing concrete. <br /> 1.03 GENERAL <br /> A. No existing structure or concrete shall be shifted, cut, removed, or otherwise altered <br /> until authorization is given by the Engineer. <br /> B. When removing materials or portions of existing structures and when making <br /> openings in existing structures, the Contractor shall take all precautions and use all <br /> necessary barriers and other protective devices so as not to damage the structures <br /> beyond the limits necessary for the new work, nor to damage the structures or <br /> contents by falling of flying debris. Unless otherwise permitted, line drilling will be <br /> required in cutting existing concrete. <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 MATERIALS <br /> A. Epoxy Bonding Compound: <br /> 1. The epoxy bonding compound shall be fumished in two components for <br /> combining immediately prior to use in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> written instructions and as stipulated in these Specifications. <br /> 2. The components of the epoxy resin system shall conform to the following <br /> requirements. <br /> a. Component A - Component A shall be a modified epoxy resin of the <br /> epichlorohydrin bisphenol A condensation type, containing suitable <br /> viscosity control agents and having an apoxide equivalent of <br /> 180-200. <br /> b. Component B - Component B shall be primarily a reaction product <br /> of an alkyl glycidyl ether and a polyfunctional aliphatic amine <br /> containing suitable viscosity agents modified with 2, 4, 6 to <br /> (dimethylamino-methyl) phenol. <br /> c. The component ratio of B:A shall be 1:1 by volume. <br /> d. The resultant compound shall be polysulfide free. <br /> 08/12 03700-1 11-4179 <br />
