1. The epoxy compound shall be placed only when both the concrete surface <br /> temperature and the ambient temperature is 40 degrees F and rising. <br /> H. SAFETY <br /> 1. The Contractor shall require applicators to wear protective clothing, gloves, <br /> goggles and barrier creams. <br /> 3.05 OPENINGS IN CONCRETE <br /> A. Where openings are required for pipes, thimbles for gates, gate stems or other <br /> installations in existing concrete structures, the Contractor shall cut the existing <br /> concrete within the limits required, as shown on the Drawings or specified, expose <br /> the existing reinforcing steel and perform the work in such a manner as to prevent <br /> damage to the existing adjacent structures or equipment. <br /> B. Unless otherwise permitted, line drilling will be required. <br /> B. Where concrete is cut to provide openings for gate stems, pipe sleeves shall be <br /> accurately installed and grouted in place in an approved manner. <br /> 1. The exposed reinforcement shall be cleaned by wire brushing, then cut and <br /> bent to permit the installation and finally bent around the new pipe or <br /> thimble. Additional reinforcement shall be provided as shown on the <br /> Contract Drawings for typical reinforcing details of openings in walls and <br /> slabs, except as otherwise shown, specified or required. <br /> 2. After installation of pipelines and thimbles, etc., the existing concrete shall be <br /> prepared as specified above in Paragraph 3.03C and the void between the <br /> outside of the pipe or thimble and the existing concrete shall be filled with <br /> non-shrink grout. <br /> END OF SECTION <br /> 08/12 03700-5 11-4179 <br />
