RESOLUTION NO. 2017- 2155 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br /> OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING FLORIDA <br /> CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK, OCTOBER 23-29, 2017, AND <br /> ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS TO SUPPORT THE <br /> CELEBRATION AND CORRESPONDING ACTIVITIES; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br /> NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the <br /> one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, municipal government provides services and programs that enhance <br /> the quality of life for residents, making their city their home; and <br /> WHEREAS, city government is administered for and by its citizens, and is <br /> dependent upon public commitment to and understanding of its many responsibilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, city government officials and employees share the responsibility to <br /> pass along the understanding of public services and their benefits; and <br /> WHEREAS, Florida City Government Week offers an important opportunity for <br /> elected officials and city staff to spread the word to all citizens of Florida that they can <br /> shape and influence this branch of government; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities and its member cities have joined <br /> together to teach citizens about municipal government through a variety of activities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Support for City Government Week. The City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> encourages all citizens, city government officials, officials at NSE/SIB K-8 School, and <br /> employees to do everything possible to ensure that the week of October 23-29, 2017, is <br /> recognized and celebrated as City Government Week, and encourage educational <br /> partnerships between city government and schools, and to actively promote and sponsor <br />• "Florida City Government Week". <br /> Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do <br /> all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
