Section C-7.6 of the City Charter, as <br /> well as Section 172-5 of the City Code, require the affirmative votes of at least four (4) <br /> members of the City Commission at a public meeting to approve charitable contributions to any <br /> person or entity. <br /> During the aftermath of natural disasters like Hurricane Irma, the City Manager must have <br /> flexibility to financially assist local charities which are generally providing shelter, food and <br /> other assistance to seniors and others. The City Commission wishes to amend Section 172-5 of <br /> the City Code to authorize the City Manager to make charitable contributions up to $5,000.00 to <br /> local non-profit organizations. The City Commission also wishes to amend Section 172-5 of the <br /> City Code to authorize the City Manager to make a memorial contribution of up to $500.00 in <br /> the event of death of an employee or City Official. <br />
