Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting January 19, 2017 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />lOD. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br />an Increase in Spending Authority with Rohl Networks, LP for Installation of New <br />Conduit for the Emergency/Pedestrian Bridge at North Bay Road, in an Amount not to <br />Exceed $23,350.00, in Substantially the Same Form as Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A'; <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; <br />Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: Deputy City Clerk Betancur read the title, and Capital Projects Manager Elka <br />Linton -Dorsett reported. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Vice Mayor Goldman moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2017-2700 was adopted by a voice vote of 4-0-1 <br />[Commissioner Aelion absent] in favor. <br />10E. An Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Urging the <br />United States Congress to Reform the National Flood Insurance Program to Eliminate <br />the Disproportionate Subsidies Paid by the State of Florida to Other Parts of the <br />Nation, and to Increase the Amount of Subsidies Allocated in Florida, to an Amount Equal <br />to at Least 25% of Flood Insurance Premiums Paid in the State of Florida, for Reinvestment <br />in Resilient Infrastructure Projects in the State of Florida; to Amend Flood Insurance Policy <br />Renewals From Annually to Every Four Years so that Property Owners May Secure Lower <br />and More Predictable Rates; and, Further, Urging the Florida Legislature to Adopt Stricter <br />Building Codes that Incorporate Measures that Address Sea Level Rise, and to Adopt Laws <br />that Require Insurance Companies to Provide Incentives for the Implementation of Resilient <br />Measures that Mitigate the Risks Related to Climate Change and Flooding; Directing the <br />City Clerk to Distribute Copies of this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: Deputy City Clerk Betancur read the title, and Capital Projects Manager Elka <br />Linton -Dorsett reported. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commissioner Gatto and Vice Mayor Goldman seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2017-2701 was adopted by a voice. voteof 4-0-1 <br />[Commissioner Aelion absent] in favor. <br />10F.
