RESOLUTION NO. 2018- 777' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS COMPUTER EQUIPMENT TO SOUTH FLORIDA DIGITAL ALLIANCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social service programs; and WHEREAS, the South Florida Digital Alliance was incorporated as a non-profit entity in May 2009 under the name of the Miami-Dade Broadband Coalition of which founding was made possible by a generous grant provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in support of connecting organizations to the interne and to each other to provide opportunities for all segments of our community; and WHEREAS, South Florida Digital Alliance enhances the quality of life for South Florida residents representing the anchor institutions of our community for education, government, healthcare and non-profit organizations, and have expressed a desire to utilize certain computer equipment; and WHEREAS, the City is in possession of a significant amount of surplus computers and computer equipment which is no longer viable for business use in the City and wishes to donate it to the South Florida Digital Alliance. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Donation of Surplus Computer Equipment. The City Commission hereby approves the donation of surplus computer equipment to the South Florida Digital Alliance. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
