RESOLUTION NO. 2012- Ob 5 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br /> APPROVING APPOINTMENTS TO THE CITY <br /> ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR <br /> 2012; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 74-8 of the Code provides that there shall be as many standing <br /> committees of the City Commission as the Mayor or City Commission deems necessary and that <br /> the City Commission may establish or terminate such Committees from time to time; and <br /> WHEREAS, on December 18, 2008 via Resolution No. 2008-1354, the City <br /> Commission created a new advisory committee entitled the "City Advisory Committee"; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Advisory Committee ("Committee") is responsible for advising <br /> the City Commission on matters pertaining to the following: <br /> 1. Capital Projects; <br /> 2. Long Range Technical matters; <br /> 3. Planning& Zoning matters; <br /> 4. Social Welfare issues; <br /> 5. Tourism/Development; <br /> 6. Procurement; <br /> 7. Ethics; <br /> 8. Public Safety; <br /> 9. Cultural and Fine Arts Enrichment; and <br /> WHEREAS,the number of Committee members will decrease from ten (10) members to <br /> seven (7) who shall be appointed for one-year terms to commence January 1 and end December <br /> 31 of each year and which may be renewed by the City Commission as often as desirable; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and one additional member, the <br /> Vice-Mayor shall appoint two (2) members, and the Commission shall appoint one member each <br /> for a total of seven(7) members; and <br /> WHEREAS, Committee members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that <br /> govern the City Commission, the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws, and the terms of <br /> this Resolution. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified <br /> and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. <br /> Section 2. Appointment of Committee Members. The Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson <br /> and one additional member, the Vice-Mayor shall appoint two (2) members, and the <br /> R2012 City's Advisory Committee Appointments 2013 Page 1 of 3 <br />
