AN OPEN LETTER TO THE APPLICANTS AND EMPLOYEES OF
FIRSTSERVICE RESIDENTIAL
FirstService Residential ("Company")recognizes that substance abuse is a problem on the job,as
well as a social problem. We believe that the abuse of alcohol, prescription and over-the-counter
medications and the use of illegal drugs endanger the health and safety of the abusers and all others
around them.
FirstService Residential is committed to creating and maintaining a drug-free workplace without
jeopardizing valued but troubled employees'job and security, provided they are prepared to help us
help them.
Our Policy formally states that substance abuse is not tolerated during working hours on the premises
of FirstService Residential, including the parking lots, as well as any job site to which you are
assigned. This prohibition includes the possession, use or sale of illegal drugs or alcohol. Our policy
also prohibits off-premises abuse of alcohol, prescription and over-the-counter drugs,as well as the
possession, use or sale of illegal drugs, when these activities adversely affect job performance, job
safety,or FirstService Residential's reputation in the community. The legal use of prescription and
over-the-counter drugs is permitted during work hours on the premises of FirstService Residential
only if it does not impair an employee's ability to perform the essential functions of his/her job
effectively and in a safe manner.
Employees who are found to be under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol, or who violate this
Policy in other ways are subject to corrective action, which may include termination. It is a
condition of your employment to refrain from taking illegal drugs on or off the job,and if you,as an
injured employee in Florida, refuse to submit to a test for drugs or alcohol, you could forfeit your
eligibility for medical and indemnity benefits under Florida's Workers' Compensation laws.
All information, interviews, reports, statements and drug test results through FirstService
Residential's Drug-Free Workplace Program will be confidential to the extent allowed by law. For
your reference, for our Florida employees, Florida's Workers'Compensation laws contain specific
provisions discussing the Employer's Drug-Free Workplace program, Section 440.101, et seq.,
Florida Statutes, and implementing Drug Testing Rules.
We are confident that you understand the need to protect the workplace as an environment that is
secure and healthy for everyone.
Lukes' Landscaping, Inc.
