• <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 2$OCo <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING WAIVER OF <br /> THE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN CHAPTER 62 <br /> OF THE CITY CODE; APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH <br /> ECONOLITE CONTROL PRODUCTS, INC. FOR THE <br /> PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF ADAPTIVE <br /> SIGNALIZATION EQUIPMENT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO <br /> EXCEED ONE MILLION SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND SEVEN <br /> HUNDRED EIGHTEEN DOLLARS AND EIGHTY-FIVE CENTS <br /> (S1,077,718.85), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND <br /> ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI- <br /> DADE COUNTY FOR THE INSTALLATION AND <br /> MAINTENANCE OF THE ADAPTIVE SIGNALIZATION <br /> EQUIPMENT, PROVIDED IT IS FIRST APPROVED AS TO <br /> FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; <br /> FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE <br /> CITY ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br /> EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County ("County") has been assessing the feasibility of <br /> implementing technology to improve the flow of traffic; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has entered into an agreement with Econolite Control Products, <br /> Inc. ("Econolite") for the purchase and installation of Adaptive Signal Control Technology; and <br /> WHEREAS, the minimization and improvement of traffic have always been a priority of <br /> the City Commission; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City is in need of a contractor who is qualified, willing, and able of <br /> providing the products and services needed to implement an adaptive signalization system; and <br /> WHEREAS, Econolite, the first and only contractor to offer Traffic Signal Priority <br /> functionality, has agreed to provide the City with the same products-and services as provided to <br /> the County under Contract No. BW9872-MT; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager is recommending the City Commission waive the bidding <br /> requirements set forth in Chapter 62 of the City Code as it is in the best interests of the City to do <br /> so; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to install and maintain the adaptive signalization equipment an <br /> Interlocal Agreement with the County is required; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to waive the bidding requirements of Chapter <br /> 62 of the City Code and approve an Agreement with Econolite Control Products, Inc. for <br /> purchase and installation of adaptive signalization equipment, in an amount not to exceed One <br /> R2018 Agmt W Econolite For Adaptive Signalization Page 1 of 2 <br />
