CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order by Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera at 3:00 p.m., with the <br /> following officials present: <br /> Assistant City Manager/Services Jorge Vera <br /> City Clerk Jane A. Hines, CMC <br /> Commissioner Roslyn Brezin <br /> Assistant City Manager/Finance Minal Shah <br /> Assistant City Clerk Mauricio Betancur <br /> Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera presented opening remarks. <br /> B. DISCUSSION REGARDING A S250,000 APPLICATION FOR A RECREATIONAL <br /> TRAILS PROGRAM (RTP) TO FINANCE RECREATION TRAILS IN THE <br /> INTRACOASTAL PARKS: <br /> Assistant City Manager Vera discussed the 2010 Recreational Trails Program(RTP) Grant <br /> for $250,000 for improvements in The Intracoastal Parks. He provided a power-point <br /> presentation on The Intracoastal Parks that are composed of several lands that the City has <br /> purchased along Collins Avenue, and south of Sunny Isles Boulevard. The Parcels the City <br /> purchased are south of Atlantic Avenue/Atlantic Isles entranceway. There are fountains, <br /> shade areas,walkways,and the walkways along Collins Avenue will interconnect all the way <br /> north as per our Master Plan that we have in the City. It is basically open space for people to <br /> enjoy next to Collins Avenue. The Parks overlook the Intracoastal Waterway, and along <br /> Collins Avenue will be a wide sidewalk, about 10-feet, for pedestrians to walk or ride a bike <br /> on. The idea is to go from the south end of the City, which is at the end of Haulover Park, <br /> and interconnect throughout these sidewalks all the way north to Heritage Park. That idea is <br /> already set in our Comprehensive Plan, and we are purchasing properties until we can <br /> establish the whole thing. The grant money is going to be used for improvements to The <br /> Intracoastal Parks. We are planning on doing the sidewalk where parking with the <br /> Associations and see if we can eo ahead and use some more of their area as easements for <br /> landscaping and widen that whole area. <br /> C. QUESTIONS: <br /> • Are the Manatee and Dolphin and Sailfish Park all one Park? Mr. Vera presented a <br /> rendering of a map of the City. They are not one Park. <br /> • There are two separate Parks? Yes, there are two Parks which are divided by <br />
