Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting April 13,2000 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> Kathleen Kennedy; Mary Ann Eicke; Morris Brody; Herb Abramson; John Shepherd; and <br /> Cliff Schulman, Esq. <br /> Cliff Schulman submitted a booklet of renderings for the project called"Acqualina"a"hotel <br /> within a condominium" that will have 63 hotel rooms and 218 condominium units. He <br /> displayed a 3-dimensional model of the proposed building. <br /> Mayor Samson asked the applicant to provide for emergency vehicle access for both of the <br /> beach accesses and they agreed. Jorge Vera read his new recommendation that he had <br /> changed from the recommendation in the package. Marla Dumas recommended approval of <br /> the applications with conditions, and indicated that she had asked City planning consultant <br /> Jack Luft to speak on the planning issue. Mr. Luft noted that the request provides for the <br /> Collins Avenue front having a wall directly on the sidewalk. Mr. Schulman had agreed to <br /> work with Ms. Dumas to provide a streetscape plan in cooperation with the City's overall <br /> landscape plan. Mr. Bradshaw agreed to the same issue. It was agreed that an approval was <br /> subject to the condition that the applicant provide 325 additional offsite parking spaces. <br /> Commissioner Turetsky said the building would contribute to the reduction of City taxes and <br /> increase the beach access. <br /> Commissioner Iglesias moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded a motion to approve <br /> the application with the City Planning Director's recommendation with conditions,subject <br /> to approval of the parking request of item 6. (non use parking variance). The motion to <br /> approve was approved as Resolution No. 00-Z-46, by a roll call vote of 5-0. <br /> Vote: Commissioner Iglesias Les <br /> Commissioner Kauffman Les <br /> Commissioner Turetsky ves <br /> Vice Mayor Morrow yes <br /> Mayor Samson yes <br /> 6D. REQUEST OF WILLIAMS ISLAND OCEAN CLUB, INC., OWNER OF THE <br /> PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF 178Th STREET FOR THE <br /> FOLLOWING: <br /> (Public Hearing #Z2000-02) <br /> 1. Modification of Condition 2 of Resolution 98-Z-17 passed and adopted by the City <br /> Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach on the 13'"day of August, 1998 reading <br /> as follows: <br /> From Condition 2: That in the approval of the plan the same be in accordance with <br /> that submitted for the hearing entitled "Williams Island Ocean <br /> Club Inc.",prepared by Arc-tech Associates Incorporated dated <br /> 6/22/98 and plans entitled "Williams Island Ocean Club,Inc.", <br /> prepared by Bradshaw Gill&Associates dated 6/16/98 on sheet <br /> 5 <br />
