If this level of processing is not required then this debris will be compacted <br /> in line with FEMA regulations and transported to an agreed disposal site. <br /> Construction and demolition debris (C&D) is another large part of disaster debris and is typically <br /> material resulting from damage to homes and other structures. This type of debris may comprise a <br /> Page 19 <br /> wide range of materials requiring disposal such as wood, metal, plastic, aggregates, roofing, flooring, <br /> tiles, pipes, concrete and more. These materials will be segregated at the TDMS and processed for final <br /> disposal in agreement with the City of Sunny Isles Beach preferences <br /> White goods (household appliances) consist of refrigerators, ovens, air conditioners, washing <br /> machines etc. Each TDMS site will have a designated area monitored by our safety team where these <br /> materials will be safely stored prior to decommissioning (removal of Freon/oils) and disposal at an <br /> appropriate disposal site. <br /> EPA approved technicians will ensure that ozone depleting refrigerants, mercury or compressor oils <br /> from white goods are collected appropriately. This along with HHW will be individually tracked in line <br /> with federal and state requirements. <br /> E-waste generally consists of household or commercial electronic devices such as: phones, computers, <br /> • laptops, televisions, etc. These items will be segregated and stored safely in a designated area at the <br /> TDMS where they will be appropriately processed prior to disposal at an agreed site in line with federal, <br /> state, and local guidelines. <br /> HHW (household hazardous waste)—for the purposes of this proposal will include the following: <br /> • Used Oil • Batteries • Paint • Aerosol spray cans • Pesticides • Antifreeze • Fluorescent light bulbs • <br /> Propane tanks (household size) <br /> HHW is defined as having properties that make it potentially harmful to human health or the <br /> environment. It is regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and includes <br /> waste on one of the four hazardous waste lists or waste that exhibits one of the following four <br /> characteristics: ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity or toxicity. Each TDMS site will have a lined <br /> containment area monitored by our hazard safety team where these materials if inadvertently delivered <br /> to a debris management site will be safely stored prior to disposal in accordance federal, state, and local <br /> guidelines. <br /> Dead Animals <br /> Any dead animals that are inadvertently delivered to a debris management site will be disposed of in <br /> line with local regulations.
