RESOLUTION NO. 2018- Z�3S <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br /> OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A <br /> CONSULTANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND FRED MAAS, ATTACHED <br /> HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY WITH THE <br /> AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br /> EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Chief Fred Maas is one of the founding members of the City of Sunny Isles <br /> Beach Police Department and was appointed Chief of Police on April 6, 1998; and <br /> WHEREAS, after serving the City for 20 years, Chief Maas has given notice of his <br /> retirement from the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department effective July 20, 2018; and <br /> WHEREAS, during his tenure Chief Maas has gained extensive knowledge of the daily <br /> operations of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to enter into a Consultant Agreement attached hereto as <br /> Exhibit "A", to retain Fred Maas for a one (1) year period as a Consultant to the Sunny Isles <br /> Beach Police Department on an as-needed basis; and <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Approving the Consultant Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves the <br /> Consultant Agreement between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Fred Maas attached hereto as <br /> Exhibit "A" to assist on an as-needed basis with general policy matters for the City of Sunny Isles <br /> Beach Police Department. <br /> . Section 2. Authorization of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager and City <br /> Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this <br /> Resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
