Smith and Associates has
provided Engineering Consulting Services since 1990. During this time
period, CAS has helped to resolve many issues throughout the Town.
Major projects which have been completed include the resolution of the
Towns inherent flooding problems. CAS began by preparing a stormwater
master plan to isolate the problem areas and prioritize which areas and what
solutions would help to resolve the flooding areas. CAS worked closely with
Town staff as well as other local and state agencies to establish solutions to
the regional stormwater flooding issues. They worked together with
neighboring communities, City of Hollywood and Hallandale Beach, as well
as the FDOT District 4 to resolve the regional issues by designing a regional
stormwater pump station and conveyance system within FDOT right-of-way
which would convey the excess flood waters to the SFWMD C-10 Canal.
CAS has also followed through with the remainder of the plan by designing
local stormwater solutions within the Town. The most recent being the
SW 30th Avenue stormwater improvements south of Hallandale Beach Blvd.
The project design was recently completed this year and has currently been
bid for construction.
In addition, CAS has provided engineering services for our sewer system
with regards to sewer collection. Numerous lift station rehabilitation
projects as well as gravity collection and force main design has been
performed, with the most recent lift station rehabilitation being completed in
2012.
In 2011, the Town was awarded an FDOT LAP project on Hallandale Beach
Blvd for landscape & irrigation median improvements. Being LAP
Certified, CAS performed the required FDOT services to complete and
closeout the project.
In addition to the engineering services provided, CAS has also performed the
required surveying services for such projects and has performed all Sunshine
One Call utility locations for Town owned Utilities since 2005.
82
