RESOLUTION NO. 2026 -S1 co)(O' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR FLORIDA HOUSE BILL 217 AND FLORIDA SENATE BILL 218, RELATING TO LAND USE REGULATIONS IN AREAS AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Florida House Bill 217 and Florida Senate Bill 218 (collectively, the "Proposed Legislation") provide clarity and consistency for land use regulations in communities impacted by declared natural disasters; and WHEREAS, the Proposed Legislation facilitates timely recovery and redevelopment while protecting private property rights; and WHEREAS, the City Commission supports policies that promote efficient and resilient disaster recovery efforts; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interests of its residents to support the Proposed Legislation. , NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Express Support. The City Commission hereby expresses its support for the Proposed Legislation. Section 2. Direction to the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to distribute copies of this Resolution to the Florida League of Cities, the President of the Florida Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and the Governor of the State of Florida. Section 3. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 4. Effective Date.
