RESOLUTION NO. 2007-lli '3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING OF THE ACTIVE PARK LOCATED ON NORTH BAY ROAD BETWEEN 181sT AND 182NIl STREETS AS "PELICAN PARK"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission wanted to create an additional park on North Bay Road for use as an active playground; and WHEREAS, on April 15, 1999 via Resolution No. 99-133, the City Commission approved the purchase of approximately two (2) acres of vacant property located on North Bay Road between 1815' and 182"d Street to create an active park for the enjoyment of residents of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, a Community Center and gymnasium will be added to the Active Park and a K-8 school is being constructed across the street from the Park; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to name the Active Park located on North Bay Road between 181" and I 82"d Streets as "Pelican Park" and mount a 12-foot pelican historical artifact from the Driftwood Motel, on the wall of the gymnasium to identify that Park site which is an artful and colorful figurine that has been exhibited at the Miami Historical Society. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Naming of Active Park. The City Commission hereby declares that the Active Park located on North Bay Road between 18 I 5' and 182"d Streets be named as "Pelican Park". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
