RESOLUTION NO, 2009- 1375 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING RICK CONNER AS "ACTING CITY MANAGER" PENDING THE APPOINTMENT OF A PERMANENT CITY MANAGER BY THE CITY COMMISSION; PROVIDING THE MAYOR AND CITY ATTORNEY WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, our present City Manager, A. John Szerlag, has submitted his letter of resignation and departed on Wednesday, January 21, 2009; and WHEREAS, the City is in need of an interim City Manager, and pursuant to the City Charter Section 3.3, an Acting City Manager may be appointed until such time a permanent City Manager is appointed; and WHEREAS, the City's Public Works Director/City Engineer Rick Conner is able, willing, and qualified to serve as the Acting City Manager until such time as a permanent City Manager is appointed; and WHEREAS, the City Commission hereby desires to appoint Rick Conner as Acting City Manager effective January 22, 2009 with a 10% increase in salary adjustment, until a permanent City Manager is appointed by the City Commission. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Appointment of Acting City Manager. The City Commission hereby appoints Rick Conner as "Acting City Manager" upon the vacancy of the position of City Manager and until the appointment of a permanent City Manager. Section 2. Authorization of Mayor and City Attorney. The Mayor and City Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
