<br />ORDINANCE NO. 200l-n<a <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH; PROVIDING FOR DEFINITIONS <br />AND RULES OF CONSTRUCTION FOR CODE OF ORDINANCES; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE REPEALING AND SEVERABILITY OF PARTS OF <br />THE CODE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR ALL <br />ORDINANCES; FURTHER PROVIDING FOR GENERAL PENAL TIES FOR <br />VIOLATIONS OF CODE OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has the authority to enact local laws for governmental purposes under <br />its homerule power; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the incorporation of the City, the City Commission has adopted numerous <br />ordinances to regulate the affairs of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is planning to codify its existing ordinances in the immediate future to <br />facilitate the process of reviewing and researching its ordinances; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to adopt a general ordinance that provides guidelines for <br />interpreting the City's code of ordinances; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Designation and Citation Of Code. The ordinances embraced in the following <br />chapters and sections, along with applicable sections of the Code of Metropolitan Dade County <br />pursuant to the City Charter, shall constitute and be designated the "Code of Ordinances, City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida," and may be so cited. <br /> <br />Section 2. Definitions and Rules of Construction. In the construction of this Code, and of all <br />ordinances, the following definitions and rules shall be observed, unless the context clearly indicates <br />otherwise: <br /> <br />Charter. The term "Charter" means the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br /> <br />City. The term "City" shall be construed as ifthe words "of Sunny Isles Beach" followed the word <br />"City," and shall extend to and include its officers, boards, committees and employees. <br /> <br />Code. The term "Code" means the Code of Ordinances, City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. <br /> <br />Computation of time.
