<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002-153 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE 99-80, PERMANENT POINT OF SALES <br />SIGNS IN THE RU-4 AND RU-4A DISTRICTS WHICH AMENDED <br />SECTION 33-103 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AS <br />ADOPTED BY SECTION 8.3 OF THE CITY CHARTER, TO AMEND <br />THE REQUIREMENTS FOR TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION SIGNS; <br />PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a proliferation of new construction occurring in the City of Sunny <br />Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City staff has had a number of inquiries and requests relating to construction <br />signs, which has heretofore not been addressed by Section 33-103; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, with respect to signs, the criteria currently set forth in Section 33-103 is <br />insufficient to create a more aesthetic and visually pleasing appearance to the property site during <br />construction; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. Section 33-103 "Permanent Point of Sale Signs in RU-4 and RU-4A Districts" contained in <br />the Miami-Dade County Code as adopted by the City of Sunny Isles Beach by Section 8.3 of the <br />City Charter is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. Detached Signs. All detached signs shall be set back 25 feet from the <br />front property line and 25 feet from all side property lines. The maximum height of <br />such sign shall be no greater than 20 feet from grade to the top of the sign. The area <br />contained in renderings decorative or artistic portion of such signs shall be included <br />in the calculated sign area. <br /> <br />Section 2. Temporary Construction Signs. Section 33-103 is hereby amended to <br />add the following category and criteria for temporary construction signs. <br /> <br />A. Temporary Construction Signs. Constructions signs, if so desired by the <br />property owner, shall be located on the construction site for the purpose of <br />identifying the parties involved in the construction and financing. Construction signs <br />shall be only for projects with approved permit. Artistic murals or ornamental signs <br />are permitted in accordance with the provisions hereinbelow: <br /> <br />B.
