ORDINANCE NO. 2018- 511 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING <br /> SECTION 265-55 (A) OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> TO INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF ADDRESS SIGNAGE ON <br /> MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS; PROVIDING FOR <br /> REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; <br /> PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE CITY CODE; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the signage regulations for residential multi-family buildings must be amended <br /> to enhance public safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, a visible sign will permit identification of buildings by First Responders on an <br /> expedited basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to amend the residential sign regulations to <br /> enhance visibility of address signs on multi-family buildings. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing"WHEREAS"clauses are hereby ratified and <br /> confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon <br /> adoption hereof. <br /> Section 2. Amendment to Section 265-55 (A) of the City Code. Section 265-55 (A) of the City <br /> Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> § 265-55 Residential Signs. <br /> A. Development identification sign. <br /> (1) Permitted for: <br /> (a) Multifamily building with more than five units; <br /> (b) Single-family developments with more than five units; <br /> (c) Religious institutions, schools and public uses; <br /> (d) Where multifamily dwellings are part of a larger mixed-use development, <br /> there shall be only one residential development identification sigh on each <br /> public street frontage of the development. <br /> (2) Approvals necessary: City Manager or designee. <br />
