ORDINANCES FOR FIRST READING <br /> 7A. Public Hearing: <br /> An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida,Amending <br /> Chapter 265"Zoning"Section 265-36 Neighborhood Business Zoning District("B-1") <br /> to Designate Apartment-Hotels as Prohibited Uses; Amending Section 265-38 Business <br /> Overlay Zoning District to Delete Development Standards for Apartment-Hotels; <br /> Providing for Severability; Providing for Repeal of Conflicting Provisions; Providing for <br /> Inclusion in the Code; and Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Attorney Ottinot reported noting that by <br /> adopting this Ordinance the Commission would be reducing density on the west side. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Mayor Edelcup said this is also for the B-1 District to comply with Town Center District <br /> where we have already done this years ago of not having apartment-hotels being in that <br /> District and so with everything on the west side of Collins Avenue is less dense than what we <br /> have on the east side. Vice Mayor Aelion asked about the height, and City Attorney Ottinot <br /> said the height has not changed, it is 190 feet in the B-1 District,and Mayor Edelcup said the <br /> 190 feet is a step back, birthday cake approach on the west side. <br /> Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br /> 0 in favor.
