Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting September 19,2013 City of Sunny Isles I3each,Florida <br /> 10R. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Approving a <br /> Charitable Contribution to the Sunny Isles Beach Social Seniors Events, Inc. a <br /> 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization;Providing the City Manager with the Authority to Do <br /> All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action:City Clerk Hines read the title,and City Manager Russo reported that this will codify <br /> the terms in the Agreement which the City will contribute up to$10,000. He highlighted the <br /> main terms including the City will contribute the remaining funds from this year after the <br /> expenses are taken out. We will provide the contribution on a quarterly basis,the City has a <br /> right to audit these quarterly payments,and the contribution will be matched by all revenues <br /> collected by the organization. <br /> Public Speakers: Roslyn Brezin <br /> Former City Commissioner Roslyn Brezin thanked the Commission,Dennis Stubbulo who is <br /> the Treasurer, and former City Commissioner Gerry Goodman who is the Corresponding <br /> Secretary for this organization. Vice Mayor Aelion asked about matching the monies, and <br /> Mayor Edelcup said we will be matching dollar for dollar up to $10,000.00. <br /> Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br /> resolution. Resolution No. 2013-2115 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> 10S.A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br /> the Agreement Between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Your Hometown Newspapers, <br /> Inc. .D/B/A Community Newspapers,for Publishing Services in <br /> an Amount Not to Exceed$36,000.00;Providing the City Manager with the Authority to Do <br /> All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action:[City Clerk's Note: A revised Agreement was distributed prior to the meeting.]City <br /> Clerk Hines read the title,and City Manager Russo reported this is a revised Agreement. We <br /> are going from $1,250 per publication to $1,500. We had a proposal that was at $2,000 an <br /> issue which had reserved the first page clear of any advertising, and a second page 100%for <br /> the City in addition to our other pages for a total of ten pages. We modified that to provide <br /> for the front page with the provision of just one small Ad. We will have from the third page, <br /> and we have made a significant improvement to our head bound banner on the front page,the <br /> heading making the City much more profound. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Commissioner Levin said her only issue is the circulation because we have not received a <br /> publication in our condo for months. City Manager Russo said there is a list of circulation <br /> attached to the Agreement. There is also a provision to increase the circulation at a cost of <br /> $200 per 1,000 for six months. They have agreed to do an experiment by adding 1,000 at no <br /> cost to the City. In addition to that,the key here is for us to get confirmation of the delivery. <br /> He had discussed with staff about taking a very close look at this circulation. <br /> Vice Mayor Aelion moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to approve the <br /> resolution,as amended. Resolution No.2013-2116 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in <br /> favor. <br /> 12 <br />
