<br />© Copyright – Safety Point, Corp. – Materials developed for TGSV Enterprises, Inc. <br />Power Tools and Equipment continued <br /> <br /> <br />(Always wear eye protection when using any power tool or equipment.) <br /> <br />Portable Power Equipment: <br /> <br /> Do not operate power equipment if labeled identification controls become unreadable. <br /> <br /> Do not use equipment if self-closing fuse caps are missing or inoperable. <br /> <br /> Do not operate powered equipment on which you have not been fully trained. <br /> <br /> Do not use tools with parts that are loose, worn, cracked, or otherwise visibly damaged. <br /> <br /> Read and follow the manufacturers’ routine and preventative maintenance schedule. <br /> <br /> Tag damaged tools "Out of Service" to prevent accidental use. <br /> <br /> Never alter or by-pass any safety device provided by the equipment's manufacturer. <br /> <br /> Use grip locations specified by the manufacturer as handholds when operating power tools. <br /> <br /> Do not smoke while using, servicing, or refueling a gasoline-powered tool. <br /> <br /> Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before cleaning, adjusting, or repairing moving parts. <br /> <br /> Visually inspect the area where you will be using an y portable power equipment. Watch for tree stumps, rocks, <br />roots, sprinklers, branches, hoses, pipes, electrical cords and outlets, or other loose hazards. <br /> <br /> Rotary lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chain saws, vacuum units, and weed eaters should never be operated <br />without guards, screens, and catchers attached to stop flying debris. <br /> <br /> Always shut off the power or engine when making adjustments, fueling, or traveling with powered equipment. , <br /> <br /> Never refuel portable power equipment with the engine running or while the engine is hot. Allow for adequate <br />cool down time. <br /> <br /> All hand-held power equipment must be equipped with a constant pressure switch that will shut off the power <br />when the pressure is released. Do not use portable power equipment with defective switches, or eq uipment <br />that does not have one. <br /> <br />(Always wear eye protection when using any power tool or equipment.) <br /> <br />Hand Tools: <br /> <br /> Never use damaged, incomplete, or unserviceable tools (I.e. mushroomed chisel heads, splintered or cracked <br />handles, sprung jaws on wrenches, chipped screwdrivers, dull knives). <br /> Wooden handles of tools should not be used if the wood is splintered or cracked. All handles must be sealed <br />tightly in the tool head. <br /> Keep the blade of all cutting tools sharp. <br /> Carry all sharp tools in a sheath or holster. <br /> Always clean and store tools properly. <br /> <br />Files: <br /> <br /> Do not use a file as a pry bar, hammer, screwdriver, or chisel. <br /> Clean the grooves of a file with a wire brush. <br /> Do not hammer on a file.
