<br />© Copyright – Safety Point, Corp. – Materials developed for TGSV Enterprises, Inc. <br />Power Tools and Equipment continued <br /> <br />Machine Guards: All guards and shield will be kept in place while machinery is in operation. Tampering with <br />machine guards or safety shield is prohibited, and any removal requires the prior approval of a responsible supervisor <br />or cal the Safety Department. All guards are to be replaces after any repair work that required their removal. <br /> <br />Power Tools and Equipment: Power, portable power, and power-actuated tools are expensive and dangerous. Treat <br />all power tools with respect. Misuse, altering, or removing a guard or shield from a power tool regardless of <br />ownership, unless it is being repaired, will result in disciplinary action. <br /> <br /> Check tools and cords for obvious damage. Do not use cords that have splices, exposed wires, or cracked or <br />frayed ends. Report all damaged tools to your supervisor. <br /> <br /> Do not use the electric cord for hoisting or lowering a power tool. <br /> <br /> Do not carry plugged in equipment or tools with your fingers on the switch. Always unplug power tools when <br />not n use. <br /> <br /> Do not pull the cords to unplug a power tool. Pull the plug. <br /> <br /> Do not handle or operate power tools with wet hands or when standing in wet places. <br /> <br /> Keep power cords away from the path of drills, saws, and grinders. <br /> <br /> Check with your supervisor before using power tool in or around a flammable or explosive area. <br /> <br /> All hand held power tools must have momentary contact “on -off” controls. “Lock-on” switches may be used if <br />the tool can be turned off in a single motion. <br /> <br /> All electric power operated tools will be grounded, or will be of the double insulated type. If in doubt check with <br />your supervisor. <br /> <br /> Do not use extension cords or other grounded three-pronged power cords that have that ground prong <br />removed or broken. <br /> <br /> Do not work on electronically driven tools or machinery unless the disconnect switch, for controlling the <br />machine, is padlocked in the “open” or “off” position by the worker(s) performing t he repairs. Do not remove <br />lock(s) until work has been completed and the area has been cleared. <br /> <br /> Power actuated tools (ram sets using 22 cal., 25 cal, or 38 cal. Shells) will be properly licensed. The operator <br />must carry the license while operating tool. <br /> <br /> <br />
