<br />EIGTH EXTENSION OF DECLARED LOCAL EMERGENCY
<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA
<br />WHEREAS, on March 12, 2020, the City Manager declared a Local Emergency, as a result of
<br />COVID-19; and
<br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 252.38(3)(a)5., F.S., political subdivisions have the power and
<br />authority to declare a state of local emergency for a period of up to seven (7) days, which may be extended
<br />as necessary, in seven (7) day increments; and
<br />WHEREAS, on March 19, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until March 25, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on March 26, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until April 1, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on April 2, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until April 8, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on April 9, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until April 15, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on April 1.6, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until April 22, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on April 23, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until April 29, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, on April 30, 2020, the City Manager extended the Declaration of Local Emergency
<br />for an additional seven (7) days, until May 6, 2020; and
<br />WHEREAS, due to COVID-19, the City Manager has determined that a condition of extreme peril
<br />of public health and welfare continues to exist, thereby necessitating the continued state of emergency.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
<br />An emergency continues to exist throughout the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and
<br />2. The declared state of Local Emergency is hereby extended for an additional seven (7) days, until
<br />May 13, 2020.
<br />IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that during the continued existence of said emergency the powers,
<br />functions, and duties of the City Manager/designee of the City of Sunny Isles Beach be those prescribed by
<br />State law and the ordinances, resolutions, and approved plans of the City of Sunny Isles Beach in order to
<br />mitigate the effects of said emergency.
