BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
The boat ramps are located on Polk Street between North 8th Avenue and North 9th Avenue within the City of
Hollywood in Broward County, Florida. The existing site consisted of an existing 2.0‐acre parcel containing a boat
ramp facility owned by the City of Hollywood. The area had two existing drives, a maneuvering area, and four boat
ramps. Existing storm water runoff collected on‐site and flowed towards two existing catch basins located at the
drive entrances. The existing catch basin connected to the existing drainage infrastructure for Polk Street. The
existing drainage facilities were in poor condition as one of the existing catch basin lids is corroded in place. Major
flooding occurred during “King Tides” and/or high tide events. During these events, tidal waters overcame the
highest boat ramp elevations, sheet flowed across the site and thereby flooded Polk Street. To improve drainage
and aesthetics these improvements were included: ramp reconstruction, 259 linear feet of 18” diameter RCP
storm sewer, 201 linear feet of exfiltration trench, the raising of160 linear feet of seawall, the installation of
handicapped ramps, the addition of 43 new trees, the relocation of 7 existing trees, the addition of 2,118 new
shrubs and the addition of 5 new parking lot lighting standards and fixtures.
The tasks performed by Craven Thompson consist of surveying, civil design, landscape architecture, permitting,
bidding assistance and construction related services.
Construction Cost: $603,599.00

25.
