Renovation and expansion of the existing Miami Beach Convention Center with <br />the addition of a two-story ballroom and meeting space with parking located on the roof of the north and west addition. Addi- <br />tionally, the project includes the construction of a park pavilion just west of Convention Center Drive. The pavilion consist of a <br />concrete structure that incorporates “umbrella” that make up the roof and exterior shading spaces. <br />Rey’s role included planning and supervising complex fi eld exploration and laboratory testing programs for the proposed <br />microtunneling and open-cut method of pipe installation. It also included serving as Engineer of Record during the preparation <br />of the Geotechnical Baseline Report and Geotechnical Data Report for the design-build criteria package. <br />The project consists of constructing a 108,350 sq ft enclosed dry storage facility to replace an existing dry stack marina <br />containing 260 open-rack dry storage units. The project also includes a pile-supported slab-on-grade for forklifts. Additionally, <br />fl oating docks constructed in Biscayne Bay. The project also includes sheet piling to bring the site to grade. Rey served as the <br />Senior Geotechnical Engineer. <br />The project includes roadway, drainage, lighting and signalization improvements as well as replacement of a bulkhead wall <br />along the existing canal. Additionally, the geotechnical services include providing design services for a pump station, which <br />included developing engineering recommendations for pump station foundation and excavation. Rey served as the Senior <br />Geotechnical Engineer. <br />Furnishing and installing 8-inch ductile iron water mains within the project boundary. It also includes furnishing and installing <br />fi re hydrant assemblies, long service connections within the public right of way, short-service connections withing the public <br />right of way, relocating existing water meters from the rear of private properties to the right of way, and installing water service <br />lines within private properties with water meter locations.
