PROJECT APPROACH AND UNDERSTANDING CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH RFQ NO 20-07-01 SECTION D – PROJECT APPROACH AND UNDERSTANDING COASTAL PROTECTION ENGINEERING LLC | PAGE 7 Construction Administration - CPE will fully support the City with construction observation and project coordination. Our staff typically provide the following: daily observations, progress updates, weekly progress meetings, permit compliance, agency coordination, review of contractor submittals and requests for payment, and project certification. CPE will work with the City to conclude the project expeditiously and will be prepared to support the City for as long as needed to ensure successful project completion. We commit to developing a level of effort with the City that meets the needs of the project in balance with the City staff, resources, and budget. Funding Assistance CPE professionals assist with the annual FDEP Local Government Funding Request (LGFR) in support of our client’s shore protection programs. The LGFR includes project descriptions and future planning elements, budget development and project, design, construction, and monitoring scheduling needed to obtain state grants for coastal projects. We have also been very successful in coordinating with FEMA claims for damages to beaches and negotiating appeals for reimbursement if needed. Public Outreach CPE understands that public outreach is critical for coastal communities. Our staff have supported clients with a range of public outreach services from public meetings to digital content by presenting at public stakeholder meetings and publicly attended board meetings. We can also assist with creating independent project websites and preparing content for use on existing local government websites. We coordinate with our clients to focus on the information pertinent to the local public interest in order to assemble and provide the most appropriate content. Construction projects that involve the beach often generate passionate public inquiries. To get ahead of questions on general project information, construction schedules, progress and frequently asked questions, we gather and present information in a straightforward manner with the intent of answering the public’s questions and streamlining effort by the City representatives. We have also participated in numerous public meetings during coastal studies such as inlet management plans with the goal of sharing information, soliciting local knowledge, and gaining public feedback to incorporate into the study for successful public consensus.
