The bridge was built in
1957. It is 2,155' long and 34 sections of approach of pre-tensioned concrete beams, 15 of them 45' long and remaining 19 are 65' long, as
well as 3 main sections of continuous steel beams (70', 105', 70'). LEAD Engineering Contractors assigned Chrome Engineering with
specialized engineering design services, including an Engineering Analysis Report (EAR) for the evaluation of non-structural deck cracks
found after repairs were performed on the bridge. Our Structural Engineers also provided a Load Rating analysis of the existing steel spans
to support the proposed steel painting equipment needed for the rehabilitation of the existing steel beams (main spans).
In addition Chrome Engineering Inc., prepared plans and calculations for a steel and timber temporary platform required for access to perform
repairs to Pier 26's concrete cap. The proposed platform is supported from the existing concrete cap and hangs from the existing
concrete deck. The approximate overall bridge repairs construction cost is $10M.
Chrome Engineering, Inc.Miami, Florida Structural Engineer
MacArthur Causeway East Bridge Repairs, Miami, Florida
170
