103
Miami Beach Botanical GardensMiami Beach, FL
BEA Architects was selected by the City of Miami Beach Public Works/Property Management Division (PMD), to provide professional architectural services to remove and replace the existing glass doors and windows with impact resistant glass doors and windows at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens.
The Botanical Gardens facility consists of three individual pavilions and one large pavilion, for a total of four pavilion buildings. Based on observations made during BEA’s visit to the site, the existing facility was glazed with non-impact windows and glazed wood doors that required shutters for hurricane protection. Additionally, the existing glass doors and fixed glazed windows did not provide the desired level of envelope integrity and shading coefficient.
Based on the results of the Due Diligence and Site Investigations, BEA developed wind load calculations per ASCE 7-10, identified jamb and mullion reinforcement requirements, developed a window schedule and identified suitable window manufacturer’s that can manufacture glazed doors and windows units that conform to BEA’s wind load calculations and comply with Miami Dade County requirements.
FIRM’S RESPONSIBILITIESArchitectural ConsultantConstruction DocumentsCode Compliance
KEY PERSONNELBruno E.
