The
C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) is the first component of the Indian
River Lagoon-South project, part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, a joint
effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District and the local sponsor,
the South Florida Water Management District. The C-44 project includes the construction of a
3,400-acre reservoir, a pump station with a capacity to pump 1,100 cubic feet per second of
water and 6,300 acres of STAs.

Nova provided contract administration, construction management, and project controls on the
below specific projects.

Reservoir Impacted Soils Project: This project consisted of earthwork activities to stockpile 263
acres of residual agricultural chemical (copper) impacted soils within the C-44 Reservoir
boundary. The work also included the demolition of an existing irrigation system and
monitoring wells, debris removal, the installation of compacted fill in nine (9) acres of the
excavated areas, survey tracking of all of the impacted soils, and installation of silt fence
around each stockpile.

System Discharge Project: This project consisted of the construction of a 120 foot long
concrete fixed-crest weir spillway with an integral gated low level discharge structure; a 1,500
foot long canal; and a new South Florida Water Management field office including all of the
associated roads, swales, drains, instrumentation, and utilities.

Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) Project: This project included the construction of six (6) STA
cells and associated canals. These cells include: 32 miles of STA cell berms with shellrock
roads; approximately 30 miles of distribution, collection, and drainage canals; 20 gated inlet
structures; 20 fixed weir outlet structures; 6 gated outlet structures; 9 box culvert road
crossings; 1 fixed crest spillway; installation of power conduits, communication conduits,
primary electrical lines, and transformers; repaving of the C-44 access road upon work
completion, and all associated roads, swales, drains, and boundary wells.

Previous ExperienceNova Consulting, Inc.
