D-22
RFQ 20-10-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. CCNA D
The proposed bridge park has created an open and inviting green space that facilities safe passage across Collins Avenue, while
serving as an icon for Sunny Isles Beach. The bridge park is a destination experience that complements the adjacent park while
providing pedestrian and vehicle access. The architectural concept provides a single span boxed shape concrete bridge structure
utilizing U-beams and a concrete deck supported by V-shaped columns. We have proposed tempered impact resistant glass railings
that are approximately 8-ft. in height. The design strategically incorporates vegetation across the bridge - that seamlessly links the
east and west landscape areas.
The proposed Bridge Park is intended to be more than just a park. The local residents and tourists will be able to walk through the
gardens, view art, experience a performance, and connect with friends and neighbors - all while enjoying a unique perspective of the
City of Sunny Isles Beach. The EAC Team is committed to improving the use of public spaces in the area, quality of life of its residents,
and creating a connected, healthy neighborhood and city.
The EAC Team proposes the following two alternatives:
1. Maintain the City’s vision and include a cantilevered sitting area; or
2. Provide a seamless elegant connection at 174th Street that links the west of Collins with Samson Oceanfront Park and the beach.
This connection is provided by an elevated Bridge Park and gracefully sloped stairs that tie into the adjacent Samson Oceanfront
Park.
Figure 3: Conceptual Bridge Park Alternative 1 – Elevation View 2
Figure 2: Conceptual Bridge Park Alternative 1 - Elevation View 1
