D-36
RFQ 20-10-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. CCNA D
Bridge Park Sloped Stair Structure with or without Art Display – If the City desires, the EAC Team will incorporate the sloped stair
connection from the bridge park to the Samson Oceanfront Park, in addition to the proposed elevators on the east side. We propose
to expand the role of contemporary art in public spaces. We recommend an art display or mural with turtle friendly lighting under the
bridge sloped stairs. This alternative will also beautify the location by attracting butterflies and other pollinators.
Lighting – The EAC Team will evaluate the use of LED or solar lighting in a way that is iconic and turtle friendly.
New Railing Alternatives – During the design development we will work with the City to propose the use of railing material
alternatives which can be very transparent and will not require major cleaning and maintenance costs. This will eliminate the
possibility of graffiti vandalism and salt spray from the beach location that can provide a cloudy appearance.
ADA Compliant Ramps – If the City desires, the EAC Team can also evaluate the use of gracious ADA compliant ramps instead of one
or two of the proposed elevators. This new concept will minimize the maintenance required for elevators in public areas, and reduce
