A summation of the NMB Water list of Capital Improvements may also be found in this <br />report in Section 5.0 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS Table 3. <br />The information contained in the Miami -Dade County Comprehensive Development Master Plan <br />Amendments adopted February 4, 2015 and the Miami -Dade WASD 20 -year Water Supply <br />Facilities Work Plan (2014-2033 NOT YET UPDATED) Support Data (November 2014 NOT YET <br />UPDATED) and, the 201 3 2018 Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan Update (LEC) approved by <br />the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) on QetebeF 10,'^" November 8, 2018 <br />are herein incorporated by reference. <br />3.6 Conservation <br />The 2018 LEC Water Supply Plan update suggests that Miami -Dade County may be able to save <br />approximately 40 mgd by 2040 if urban and agricultural conservation practices are followed. <br />As shown in the North Miami Beach ;1915202010 -Year Water Supply Facilities Plan Update, NMB <br />Water recognizes the intrinsic link between water quality, water availability, and water <br />conservation for both human and natural populations. In 1999 the NMB Water worked <br />collaboratively with the SFWMD to develop an effective water conservation program which <br />included a combination of educational, financial, operational, and regulatory initiatives. <br />Additionally, the utility works with its local (including the City of Sunny Isles Beach, regional and <br />state partners to support other water conservation initiatives including protection of vital natural <br />resources and ecosystems, water demand management, regional water storage, reduction of raw <br />and treated water losses, and alternative supply or offsetting of water usage. Currently, <br />reclaimed water is not available from the City of North Miami Beach. <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach in coordination with the NMB Water have identified and utilized <br />over the years numerous techniques in order to conserve water. The City coordinates with NMB <br />Water through the adoption of policies, actions and regulations as further outlined in sub -section <br />3.7.2 below. It should be noted that the City of North Miami Beach continues to improve its award <br />winning conservation program. <br />Specific operational resources utilized as part of this continual comprehensive conservation <br />effort include: <br />Prevention of undue water loss by: <br />o Tracking non -revenue water. <br />o Accurately meter water and preventing backflow into the system. <br />o Utilizing leak detection instruments. <br />Improve and maintain water quality by: <br />o Employing five Hydro Flushers. <br />- Promotion of personal water conservation by: <br />o Utilizing a tiered conservation -based rate structure. <br />o Supporting the County's and SFWMD's landscape irrigation practices and policies. <br />13 <br />
