RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - J <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />SECTION 932.7055, F.S., TO EXPEND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-THREE <br />THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE DOLLARS AND EIGHTY-ONE <br />CENTS ($383,273.81) FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND (LETF) FOR <br />THE PURCHASE OF A NEW POLICE DISPATCH SOFTWARE, REPLACEMENT OF <br />LICENSE PLATE READERS, AND A NEW POLICE VEHICLE; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes §932.7055(4)(c)(3) specifically, a law <br />enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture <br />Act within a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15% of such proceeds for the support <br />or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, <br />safe neighborhood, school resource officer programs or for other law enforcement purposes; <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes §932.7055(4)(b) upon the request of the <br />Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds ("LETF")may be <br />expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions <br />of the aforementioned subsection; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of LETF, in an <br />amount not to exceed Two Hundred Ninety -Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy -Nine Dollars <br />and Seventy -Seven Cents ($299,979.77), which includes a 10% contingency in an amount not to <br />exceed Twenty -Seven Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Dollars and Eighty -Eight Cents <br />($27,270.88), for upgrades to ten (10) existing license plate readers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of LETF, in an <br />amount not to exceed Nineteen Thousand Three Hundred Eighty Dollars and No Cents <br />($19,380.00), for the purchase of a new Police Department dispatch software; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of LETF, in an <br />amount not to exceed Sixty -Three Thousand Nine Hundred Fourteen Thousand Dollars and Four <br />Cents ($63,914.04), for the purchase of a new Police Department vehicle for use by the K-9 <br />Division; and <br />WHEREAS, wishes to approve the expenditure of LETF for the purchase of the <br />aforementioned Police Department items, in a total amount not to exceed Three Hundred Eighty - <br />Three Thousand Two Hundred Seventy -Three Dollars and Eighty -One Cents ($383,273.81), in <br />compliance with Florida Statutes. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1.
