City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />FROM: Stan Morris, City Manager <br />DATE: June 18, 2026 <br />RE: Adoption of the 2025-2030 Miami -Dade County Local Mitigation Strategy <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />This item is presented forthe City Commission's consideration. <br />REASONS: <br />The attached Resolution adopts the 2025-2030 Miami -Dade County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), <br />which was adopted by the Miami -Dade Board of County Commissioners on April 21, 2026. The LMS <br />provides a coordinated, countywide framework for identifying hazards, reducing risks, and prioritizing <br />mitigation projects that may be eligible for state and federal funding assistance. <br />The City's participation in the LMS is important to maintaining eligibility for certain hazard mitigation <br />grant opportunities and supports ongoing efforts to protect residents, businesses, public infrastructure, <br />and Cityfacilities from the impacts of flooding, severe weather events, and other natural disasters. <br />Approval .of this Resolution authorizes the City Manager to identify and prioritize eligible Hazard <br />Mitigation Grant Program projects for inclusion in the local and statewide mitigation strategy. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br />A complete copy of the LMS is on file with the Office of the City Clerk and is available upon request. <br />FUNDING SOURCE: <br />No funding is required for approval of this item. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Resolution <br />Item Number: 9.K <br />426 <br />
