Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting February 19,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> 7D. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br /> Section 150-1 of the Code of Ordinances ("Materials and Color of Exterior Walls")to <br /> Update the Color Palette for Exterior Walls of Structures; Providing for Severability; <br /> Providing for Inclusion in the Code; Providing for Repeal of Conflicting Provisions; and <br /> Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Planning and Zoning Administrator Claudia <br /> Hasbun reported that this is to update our Color Palette from Sherwin Williams. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Commissioner Aelion said he is uncomfortable with the singular use of a contractor. Ms. <br /> Hasbun said that the Code actually allows that flexibility as long as it is appropriate with the <br /> color palette we can allow other providers. <br /> Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br /> 0 in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br /> Section 265-5 of the City Code Entitled"Definitions"to Include Public Parks Managed <br /> by Miami-Dade County and the State of Florida in the Definition of Public Parks; <br /> Providing for Severability; Providing for Repealer; Providing for Inclusion in the Code; <br /> Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action:City Clerk Hines read the title,and City Attorney Ottinot reported that under the City <br /> Code we have a need to clarify the definition of a Park. We have one public Park that is <br /> owned by the State that is considered a Park in our Comprehensive Plan which is the beach. <br /> Adjacent to that is Haulover Park which is operated by the State. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Mayor Scholl said the issue is our Code at times speaks to adjacency to parks, and this Park <br /> would not have technically qualified as an adjacency and we are making sure that it does. <br /> Vice Mayor Gatto moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed Ordinance on first reading.
