These issues are analyzed for the best possible solutions <br />or for ways to minimize the risks in order to avoid the problem completely. <br />MCM’s successful partnering history demonstrates our ability to resolve conflicts and maintain <br />customer satisfaction, which is part of our ISO 9001 Certification discussed later on in the Quality <br />Assurance section. We partner with our client, whether formally or informally, from the beginning of each <br />project to assure there is a clear understanding that everyone will work as a team in the best interest of <br />the project and, consequently, work to resolve all construction issues. MCM works hard to maintain great <br />relationships with our clients, consultants and subcontractors so that issues and conflicts are resolved quickly <br />without finger pointing. <br />Below are examples of some of the issues we have encountered on some of our projects, and how we were <br />able to resolve those issues by working in an atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation to achieve a <br />common goal: <br />Miami-Dade ISD West Lot Multi-Use Facility - During excavation of <br />the foundations on the north side of the garage, MCM encountered an <br />unforeseen manhole used for the existing chiller lines that encroached <br />into the proposed foundations of the parking garage. These chilller <br />lines provide the main water supply for the Miami-Dade Governemnt <br />buildings adjacent to the property, and, therefore could not be <br />relocated. MCM proactively partnered with the structural engineer, <br />suggesting that the spread footers be placed adjacent to each side of <br />the chiller lines and then straddled with a grade beam. The building <br />loads above the chiller lines would be transferred to the adjacent footers and not impact the lines. The <br />structural engineer approved the suggestion and there was no additional cost to the owner. The following <br />day the resolution was implemented in the field. No time was lost in the schedule since MCM and the <br />project team addressed and implemented the solution quickly. <br />At the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8 project, the schedule was substantially impacted due <br />to delays stemming from the late removal of on-site and overhead <br />utilities by the local power and telecommunication companies. In an <br />effort to prevent further schedule creep and to ensure the successful <br />on-time delivery of this geographically important school, MCM along <br />with the owner, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS), met with <br />utility companies to discuss all options for removal and relocation. It <br />was during one of these meetings that MCM offered to install new <br />underground infrastructure at no cost to the owner, in order to expedite <br />removal of overhead lines which were preventing the completion of the <br />buildings foundations. Material was supplied by the power company <br />and MCM quickly moved to complete the work. In this instance, if <br />MCM had not partnered with the Owner and the utility companies for a quick solution, the delay <br />would have cost not only the owner and MCM time and money, but also would have resulted in <br />the project team falling short on their promise to the community, incoming students and all other <br />project stakeholders to deliver this school in-time for the new school year.
